How does the L'il Back Bracer provide support?
The L’il Back Bracer is an orthopedic support garment for dogs suffering with IVDD or other back injuries. The brace is made of a very high quality breathable and antimicrobial neoprene that is very comfortable for your dog. There are stays that line the back and abdomen to provide the needed support and stabilization of the spine.
How often should my dog wear the brace?
It depends on you and your dog. Some pet parents will put the back brace on for the majority of the day while some just use our back brace for walks or times of high activity and play. The back brace is flexible, so it allows the muscles to engage and ‘work’, it is not like a stiff cast. This is important so that the muscles do not become weak from wearing the brace.
*Please note that our dog back brace is not meant to replace the crate rest period that is prescribed by your Veterinarian.
Can I leave the brace on my dog all day?
We do not recommend letting your dog wear the brace all day. You may leave the brace on your dog for up to 14 hours a day. However, be sure to remove the brace when your dog is resting, this will prevent irritation and allow their body to air out. Check for any signs of irritation and/or swelling after removing the brace.
Please remove the brace before your dog goes to bed at night.
Can my dog “do their business” while wearing this back brace?
Yes, our back brace fits in a way that leaves that area of your dog free to take care of business without the brace blocking that part of their body.
Does my dog need to have a separate harness for walks?
The L’il Back Bracer has an attached “D” ring so when taking walks the brace acts as a harness. Just attach the leash to the ring and enjoy a safe supported walk.
How do I care for the brace?
To clean the brace just hand wash and lay flat to dry. For removing hair, we have found that a rubber pet hair remover brush works best.
How does EM Technology work?
The EMpower device works at the cellular level by gently pulsing an electromagnetic field into your pup's soft tissue.
The energy generated from the EM improves intracellular function, which also increases the production of Nitric Oxide - a healing molecule common in all living things.
Nitric Oxide helps to increase blood flow to where your pup is hurting, further reducing pain and edema at the treatment area.
How often do I need to recharge the EMpower Device?
A fully charged EMpower device can deliver 2-3 two hour therapy sessions. We recommend that you charge your EMpower device after every other use to ensure that your l'il one will get a full 2 hour session during each use.
Can my pup feel EM Technology?
Unlike TENS, our EM technology is subsensory, meaning you nor your pup will not feel a thing. Dogs are far more sensitive than humans, so we've designed our EM technology to not emit any vibration, tingling sensations, or noise.
The only thing your pup will feel is relief!
How long should my dog use PEMF Therapy?
We recommend to consult with your Veterinarian to determine the best treatment plan for your pup. For optimal results, we recommend completing one two-hour treatment everyday for two weeks. After the initial 2 week period, you may use the EMpower device as-needed to keep your pup comfortable.
When will I see results?
Some pups will see results right away, others may take longer than 2 weeks. You should see improvements in mood, increased levels of activity, changes in behavior and perhaps even tail wagging.
What is the clinical evidence on EM/PEMF Techology?
NASA has been using EM technology to aid astronauts in supporting bone health and prevent degeneration, following time spent in space.
Our EM technology is a lighter frequency optimized for pain management and increased circulation in soft tissue. This technology has been proven in the human medical space with clinical trials focused on osteoarthritis, post-surgical and post-injury recovery. These trials have shown improvements in scar tissue healing, mobility, pain levels, and edema.
Sending a sincere thank you for this amazing product. Our dog, Chloe, and a spinal stroke about 4 years ago and lost all of her feeling in her hind legs. She slowly gained back probably 80% of her motion, but recently she was really struggling with severe back pain most likely from incorrectly walking for so many years. She would scream and cry in pain at least once a day, could barely move, and we could tell she was giving up and frustrated. We couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her, but the vet kept coming to the same conclusion, and without much hope we were very close to putting her down. After doing some searching, we overnighted the back bracer as one of our last efforts and within 24 hours she was moving around a bit better. She has had her brace for about 3 weeks now and she has not once had the episodes of terrible pain. Im not sure where she goes from here, but we are truly thankful for your product being a big part of the solution of giving us more time with Chloe. Thank you! 🙏🏼

Amazing, best option
This back brace immediately helped my dog get around better after his back injury. I highly recommend it. Also using the PEMF device, and he seems more interested in playing.

Worked wonders
My dachshund is 5 and had back spasms. I ordered the brace to help her get around. I must say it’s worked wonders as she’s acting her normal self. Of course she is still taking meds.
Hi Angie,
I am so glad to hear your dog is doing well with the brace and helping her to be more herself. We hope you see continued improvement with each week. We appreciate you taking the time to write us a review.
Best,
L'il Back Bracer

Great product!
Great product! Unfortunately, my pup passed away due to complications before receiving the brace. I donated it to my vet office for someone less fortunate so they could have a blessing to help their pup. Thank you for the fast delivery and the wonderful customer service!

Very Pleased
I purchased the EMbrace Lil Back System for my 15 year old male terrier mix. Due to his spinal cord deteriorating, he was no longer able to keep his rear end lifted. The vet prescribed steroids, a pain killer, and a muscle relaxer as well as basically physical therapy - me holding up his hind end so he could walk. I am not sure how much the meds have helped, how much the physical therapy has helped, or how much the EMbrace L'il Back System has helped; however, I do know that I have already my dog is finishing up the steroids (only every other day now) and is down to two muscle relaxers a day (it was three) and is walking without any assistance other than the EMbrace Li; Back Bracer. I keep the Bracer on him since we purchased it two weeks ago, only taking it off for cleaning him, and I use the EMpower device twice a day. I will keep him in the Bracer as much as possible so there are no more set backs. When he was diagnosed with the spinal deterioration, on the same day I ordered the EMbrace L'il Back System, I also ordered him a wheelchair. I am happy to say that he has not had to use the wheelchair and is continuing to improve. He had gone from walking and running and playing to suddenly not able to lift his hind end in one night. The next day, the vet told us the cause and I ordered the EMbrace L'il Back System as well as the wheelchair. So, it has been a quick turn of events in two weeks and I do believe the EMbrace L'il Back System is helping keep my dog mobile and more comfortable, even if I cannot honestly say how much it is helping.
We are SO happy to hear that you are happy with your product. This story brings happy tears to our eyes and we hope for continued improvement and mobility for your dog. Please let us know if you have any questions down the line, always happy to help!

Fast prompt accurate service. Unfortunately, I made it for the wrong leg.
Hi Michael,
We are happy to hear you had such a great experience with us! Sorry to hear that you casted the wrong leg. Overall, we hope the casting went well for you and your dog! Please let us know if you ever have any questions once you get the brace in hand, happy to assist!
It's difficult to get the dog's leg positioned right and then you need to hold them. My suggestion is get help from others and give some gummies before hand.
Hi Debra,
We are happy to hear you were able to find an extra person to help with the casting! Depending on your dog's temperament, using an extra person for the casting is always an option. We hope the casting went well for you and your dog! Please let us know if you have any questions once you get your dog's brace in hand, happy to help!
We ordered the brace for our 10 year old dog who tore her ALC. The brace worked well the first month, but then two of he knee screws came apart. There are two screws that hold the right side and two screws that hold the left- nothing is attached to them as they act more like the flexible knee joint. We tried to fix it ourselves and my husband wrote a few times, but never heard anything back so my review reflects that lack of customer service. Our dog still wears it, but we had to attach it another way and it falls apart every night when the brace is removed. I took photos of this which my husband sent, but again nobody ever replied to any of our emails.
Hi Jill,
We are very sorry to hear about your screws coming out of your brace and for not getting back to you sooner! One of our customer service team members will be reaching out to discuss. We appreciate your honest feedback and will also pass this information along to our fabrication team. In the mean time, if you ever have any questions please let us know, happy to help!
I had very good service from Ortho and the brace is working well. My dog tolerates easily and after some time I’m hoping his leg will heal.
Thank you Ortho for all your help!
Hi Doni,
We are very pleased to hear you had such a great experience with us! We hope your dog continues to heal and show improvements with the brace. Please let us know if you ever have any questions, happy to assist!
The brace fit well but it took awhile for her to put her foot down to use it. But after about 8 days she tried it and did just fine.
Hi Trudy,
We are happy to hear Molly is doing well with her brace! It can take some time for the dog to adjust right away to the feeling of the brace. We hope she continues to keep her foot down and show improvements with the brace! Please let us know if you ever have any questions, happy to help!
